Product Description

This is the second book in this three-book series. This book takes a deeper look at cross-cultural dynamics and ways bias and cultural misunderstandings appear in the interview process. It discusses how interviewers’ expectations may not be met due to cultural misunderstandings. The author’s use of the term “cultural misunderstandings” includes assumptions, stereotypes, prejudice, bias, racism, sexism, ableism, ageism, homophobia, and other -isms that can be present in an interview situation.

The goal of this book is to help interviewers gain a deeper understanding of diverse applicants, overcome their biases, and build cultural competencies for employment interviewing. Diverse applicants discuss their experiences and perspectives from being on the receiving side of interviewers’ cultural misunderstandings and bias. All quotes and stories in this book are from real people and situations gathered from the author’s firsthand research and experience. The author did not edit out or paper over the sometimes confusing and partially contradictory quotes. This quality of the quotes models the very issue the author is writing about.
